You will sit within a high performing engineering team supporting the operation, design and evolution of gateway and network components that underpin some of Australia's most sensitive systems
Working at SFIA Level 4, you will move between hands on operational support, design work, and incident response, partnering closely with architects, security teams and operations stakeholders
The role requires equal parts technical depth and disciplined documentation, with the ability to identify risk early and design pragmatic countermeasures
Maintain and support gateway and network components using agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodologies
Translate logical designs into physical network designs that meet operational requirements for capacity, performance, resilience and security
Identify and evaluate alternative design options and trade offs, producing detailed design specifications for build
Contribute to recovery routines, contingency procedures and alternative network architectures and topologies
Identify technical risks arising from proposed solutions and design countermeasures that manage them
Review, verify and improve designs against functional, non functional and security requirements
Investigate suspected attacks and support security incident management activities
Apply and provide guidance on physical, procedural and technical security controls
Use infrastructure management tools to monitor load, performance and operational health
Undertake and supervise complex installations and removal of systems and components, including client handover
Configure tools and write scripts to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure
Investigate and resolve operational issues, providing reports and improvement recommendations to specialists, users and managers
Requirements
You must hold a current PV security clearance and be an Australian citizen to be considered for this role
Demonstrated experience maintaining and supporting gateway and network infrastructure in complex enterprise or government environments, equivalent to SFIA Level 4 IT Infrastructure
Strong systems design capability, including translating logical designs into physical builds, evaluating trade offs, and producing detailed design specifications (SFIA Level 4 Systems Design)
Practical experience investigating suspected attacks and supporting security incident management, with working knowledge of physical, procedural and technical security controls
Hands on experience with installation, configuration, automation and handover of complex network systems, including scripting or tooling for provisioning and deployment
