Coordinate, under the manager’s direction, the editorial process for assigned projects by supervising and evaluating the work of authors and internal and external contributor teams, serving as a point of reference for professionals involved in the process.
Participate in the commissioning and evaluation of new works, reprints and revisions by reviewing department and competitor catalogs, studying demand in public markets, and analyzing the pedagogical and commercial suitability of products, with the objective of issuing recommendations on the viability of new releases.
Contribute to the commissioning and analysis of market research by providing input to properly structure the work, aiming to obtain information to develop launch strategies and to renew/maintain product catalogs.
Supervise and/or carry out the compilation, preparation and editing of manuscripts (print books, e-books, digital objects), ensuring that quality standards and the editorial characteristics of the product are maintained.
Be responsible for meeting schedules by monitoring the various stages of the editorial process and, when necessary, implementing alternative strategies to achieve the proposed objectives.
Collaborate with the Commercial, Marketing, Technology and Services departments by providing input and other requested materials for the production of promotional assets and sales team training.
Monitor discussions related to education in Brazil — government book procurement programs, assessment systems, curriculum reforms — and participate in conferences, seminars and other events that provide insights for the development of new projects.
Requirements
Degree in Languages and Literature (Letras), Humanities or Publishing, with specialization in educational (didactic) and literary editing.
Experience working on titles participating in the PNLD (Programa Nacional do Livro Didático) — experience editing for PNLD, meeting all program requirements, including call-for-proposals criteria, technical requirements (such as HTML) and required deadlines.
Advanced knowledge of editing, experience overseeing the production of materials (print and digital), strong communication with peers, authors and supervisors, and experience preparing launch and reissue plans (even if under the direct supervision of a manager).
