About this role
Role Overview
Participate in general and detailed field inspection assignments (bridges, culverts, retaining walls, dams and other complex structures)
Collect, analyze and document deterioration using advanced tools (tablets, drones, measurement instruments, photos, etc.)
Contribute to writing inspection reports with clear, data-supported recommendations
Lead on-site inspections as the responsible engineer in charge of the inspection team
Ensure inspection standards are followed by the teams under your responsibility
Sign inspection reports prepared by inspectors who worked under your direct supervision
Rigorously apply current standards and best practices in health and safety
Requirements
Registered engineer with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), degree in civil engineering or a related discipline
Holds a recognized and active Structural Inspection certification from the MTMD as an IRI (Ingénieur Responsable d’Inspection)
Minimum of 3 years of inspection experience
Passionate about structures and the durability of infrastructure
Comfortable working in the field (asset if comfortable working at height), with good physical condition
Strong critical thinking, rigor and keen observational skills
Interested in technical writing and able to communicate effectively in writing and orally, primarily in French and occasionally in English (asset)
Able to work in interdisciplinary teams with technicians, engineers, experts and support staff
Familiar with common computer tools (Windows suite) and open/interested in new technologies (e.g., 3D modeling, drones, AI)
Valid driver’s license (required to access remote bridge sites across Quebec)
