Reporting to the Data Architecture Manager, you will be part of the Ontic Global Data Team and will play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining our data architecture, data pipelines and analytics capability.
Your focus will be on leveraging tools including Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, GitHub and Power BI to support the development of robust data platforms, models, governance and reporting capability across the business.
Performing exploratory data analysis on a range of complex business problems
Interpreting business processes into clear data requirements
Defining and enforcing key data attribute governance strategies
Acting as a geographical data leader within the Global Data Team
Collaborating on data team initiatives that support Ontic’s global strategic pillars
Administering and maintaining the Snowflake Data Warehouse
Devising and maintaining data engineering development standards in line with best practice
Contributing to data pipelines that clean, transform and aggregate data from disparate sources into reporting data stores
Producing data models, identifying gaps and making recommendations for improvement
Providing input into the company data strategy by suggesting, testing and proving new technologies and innovations
Translating data into valuable insights that inform data-driven decisions
Developing dashboards and reports to present data insights to stakeholders across the business
Supporting end-user technical questions and assisting in data education
Hosting on-site data quality clinics
Participating in and auditing data governance activities
Requirements
Proven experience administering and working within a data warehouse environment, with Snowflake experience highly preferred
Strong SQL programming experience in a commercial setting
Experience building data models and data flows from various sources using Kimball Dimensional Modelling techniques
Proven knowledge of data warehousing and data modelling principles
Experience using dbt
Experience administering, creating and maintaining data pipelines in an ELT application that cleans, transforms and aggregates data from disparate sources into reporting data stores
Experience documenting ELT specifications, including source-to-target mappings, business rules, data validation requirements, and functional and non-functional requirements
Experience using BI reporting tools, such as Power BI, with the ability to develop reports and dashboards
The ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate data insights into concise executive summaries and presentations
The ability to present findings in a structured and clear way, with actionable insights
The ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively
A proactive and independent approach to meeting stakeholder needs while working to tight deadlines
An appreciation of data security, CCPA, GDPR and PII data handling principles
Awareness of AI tools and technologies, with experience using tools such as OpenAI Codex, Snowflake Cortex or Snowflake Intelligence preferred
Willingness to be utilised as a developer across other enterprise applications
Experience working within the aerospace, engineering or manufacturing sectors would be advantageous
Experience with the below toolset is preferred: Snowflake cloud platform, dbt, Fivetran or Precog, Microsoft Fabric / Power BI Analytics, GitHub, SDLC, Kimball Dimensional Modelling, Dynamics 365 backend, Infor Syteline and/or Infor Visual ERP backend, SQL
