About this role
Role Overview
Providing independent process assurance to ensure aerospace software development complies with the rigorous DO-178C standards.
Auditing software life cycle processes (planning, development, verification, configuration management) to ensure adherence to approved plans (PSAC, SDP, SVP, SCMP, SQAP).
Providing independent sign-off of lifecycle compliance evidence, often required for DAL A and B software.
Ensuring the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) is maintained, linking high-level requirements to low-level requirements, code, tests, and results.
Reviewing software requirements, design, code, and test artifacts to ensure compliance with DO-178C objectives.
Evaluating and auditing subcontractors to ensure their processes comply with project DO-178C requirements.
Overseeing the management of Open Problem Reports (OPRs) and ensuring changes to the software are tracked and tested.
Participating in and supporting Stages of Involvement (SOI) audits with regulatory authorities.
Requirements
DO-178C Expertise: In-depth knowledge of DO-178C, including the ability to interpret and apply its objectives to projects.
Aerospace Experience: 5–10+ years of experience in the aerospace or defense industry, specifically with safety-critical software.
Quality Assurance Techniques: Strong understanding of audit techniques, root cause analysis, and quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with embedded software development (C/C++, Ada) and software verification methods.
Configuration Management: Experience with software configuration tools and process compliance.
Certification Knowledge: Familiarity with DAL (Design Assurance Level) A-E classification.
