Responsible for the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business through thorough knowledge and understanding of Travelers risk appetite to make appropriate decisions within own underwriting authority.
Underwrite and skillfully negotiate customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
Develop, foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with brokers to market and promote Travelers products, leveraging a full range of product knowledge, with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite.
Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
Effectively develop and execute sales plans to ensure retention and new business targets are met.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a finance-related discipline
Three to five years of finance-related experience or management liability, professional liability and/or surety underwriting experience
Knowledge of management liability, professional liability and/or surety products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market
Relevant experience interacting with brokers
Associateship of Canadian Surety Bonding designation
Strong financial acumen, including the ability to analyze financial statements and client’s operational history
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with our risk appetite
Communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate with brokers
