Oversee and manage the end-to-end packaging development process, including the creation of packaging standards, designs, prototype development, and performance testing as needed
Interpret military and commercial standards and apply them effectively to packaging designs
Analyze engineering drawings and product specifications to determine physical characteristics, special handling requirements, environmental and safety considerations, and appropriate materials — ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability
Troubleshoot new and existing packaging challenges involving designs, materials, and processes, delivering creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions
Collaborate with both internal and external customers to meet production support demands aligned with Blue Origin requirements
Work closely with suppliers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Management teams
Identify and champion opportunities for continuous improvement in corporate processes
Support extensive travel throughout the U.S. as required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging Engineering (years of relevant work experience may be substituted for degree)
2+ years of experience in a Packaging Engineer role
Knowledge and understanding of packaging design validation standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.), drafting, and specification standards
Proficiency in 3D CAD software
2+ years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, and Shipping of aerospace hardware
2+ years of experience with Shipping Department functions, including material handling, packaging of aerospace hardware, hazardous materials, and raw materials including metals
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
