Role Overview
- Perform engineering design and analysis of substation projects for various clients within Canada and the US in the industrial space under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer.
- Support mutual success with both the clients and NEI by providing quality deliverables that are on time and within the defined budget.
- Implement the NEI Quality Assurance Plan.
- Train junior level engineers and designers in areas of physical design of electrical substations & BESS facilities.
- Write technical go-bys and training documents. Assist with the creation and enforcement of technical standards across the department.
- Consult regularly with the Team Lead on key decisions and activities.
- Perform the review of detailed physical engineering for all aspects of electric power substations including multi-disciplinary coordination.
- Prepare hand and computer-based calculations and models for physical designs.
- Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and proposals for complex projects.
- Manage deliverables and deadlines to ensure they are submitted on time for both internal QA/QC deadlines and external deadlines to client.
- Ensure that client requirements, specifications, and expectations are being met.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Civil or Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
- P. E. is Preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
