Leads the shift or area/program by assigning, monitoring, and reviewing the progress and accuracy of technician work
Acts as a resource for the team, providing day-to-day direction and guidance on complex issues, resolving conflicts when necessary and fostering a positive work environment
Assists leadership with teammate interviewing, selection, development, and engagement
Creates staff schedules and monitors performance, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and compliance with regulatory standards
Trains, orients, and educates team members, ensuring competency and completion of required training program
Identifies quality improvement opportunities and collaborates with leadership to design and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety and engagement
Participates in performance improvement activities and ensures proper documentation and compliance with legal, regulatory, and accrediting bodies
Monitors and maintains inventory levels, processes drug recalls and ensures appropriate handling of controlled substances
Reviews billing processes, adjusts patient bills as necessary, and processes charges and credits for medications where appropriate
Acts as a role model for safe, effective and efficient care, demonstrating the skills and knowledge necessary for pharmacy technicians
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements
Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT)
Typically, 3 years of work experience in applicable work setting
Highly effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Exceptional customer service, problem resolution and process development skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, take initiative, and to work independently with minimal supervision
Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
Computer skills with Microsoft Office, email, internet access, electronic pharmacy management systems, and pharmacy ordering and inventory systems
