Medical Assistant

Role Overview

• Provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic
• Obtains vital signs, reconciles medications, collects patient history, and facilitates patient flow
• Manages the electronic health record (EPIC), schedules appointments, processes medication requests, handles prior authorizations, and coordinates tests and procedures
• Upon successful completion of clinical competency, may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required
• Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus
