Handle complex multi-line claims through all distribution channels
Assess coverage under the respective policies and communicate coverage positions or issues with underwriters and other internal stakeholders, brokers and insureds
Assess exposures and determine appropriate reserves
Retain the services of internal or external panel legal counsel and other support services (when necessary)
Lead, supervise, guide and provide technical advice to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling
Train colleagues on complex claims handling
Work with Underwriting to identify potential risks and trends, as well as with marketing efforts
Provide brilliant customer service to brokers, insureds, and colleagues
Deliver and exceed on all key performance indicators related to loss development, claims leakage control and expense management
Negotiate claims when appropriate
Attend settlement conferences and trials
Requirements
10+ years’ experience with direct handling of large and complex Errors and Omissions (E&O) and Directors and Officers (D&O) claims
Experience in other Specialty lines of business, such as Cyber or Crime is an asset
University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
A critical thinker and have intellectual curiosity when approaching complex problems in time-sensitive situations
A skilled communicator allowing you to foster favorable business relationships and provide clear guidance to clients and stakeholders, internal and external
A problem-solver and able to gather information, evaluate a situation and negotiate the next steps toward a solution
Able to adapt to changing needs and understand the need to be flexible and agile
A planner and able to effectively organize to establish an effective strategy
A strong collaborator and have a passion for mentoring and coaching others
Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position
CIP designation is an asset
