Financial Counselor

Role Overview

• Assists patients with all billing inquiries face to face
• Reviews all aspects of the patient bill(s)
• Collects liability for upcoming procedure(s) and past due balances
• Reviews options for benefit coverage for medical and pharmaceutical services
• Secures authorizations and sets up fee arrangements
• Ensures timely and accurate patient assistance to enhance experience
• Serves as a liaison between patients, providers, and external departments

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of customer service, healthcare, or office experience
• Previous Healthcare Billing/Collections/Customer Service Experience preferred
• Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced ever changing environment
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high pressure/stressful situations
• Reliable transportation as may be required to travel to other facilities
