Belcan is a leading provider of qualified personnel, and they are seeking a hands-on, experienced Contract Manufacturing Engineer to support the industrialization and ramp-up of high-quality battery and power electronics components at tier-1 supplier manufacturing sites in China. The role focuses on ensuring process stability, improving yield and quality, and driving root-cause resolution of production issues during a short-term assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as on-the-ground technical liaison at supplier manufacturing sites in China for battery and power electronics components
- Collaborate with supplier engineers, technicians, and program managers to monitor production performance and troubleshoot process or quality issues
- Conduct hands-on inspections of manufactured components and subassemblies to validate compliance with requirements
- Lead the execution of Design of Experiments (DoEs) to define and optimize process parameters that support consistent high-yield production
- Collect, analyze, and interpret production and process data (e.g., yields, SPC data, CTQs) to identify trends and corrective actions
- Interface with client internal manufacturing, quality, engineering, test, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment on priorities and findings
- Maintain regular reporting cadence and feedback loop with technical program owners and supply chain leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supplier industrialization, or process development roles, ideally with direct battery or power electronics process exposure
- Deep understanding of manufacturing process control, quality tools, and data analysis techniques (SPC, MSA, DoE, etc.)
- Strong hands-on skills and comfort working on production floors with supplier operators and engineers
- Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken)
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate independently in cross-cultural environments
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within China between supplier sites, including multi-week to multi-month site support engagements
- Working knowledge and/or prior experience with battery and power electronics manufacturing processes; expertise in ultrasonic welding processes strongly desired
- Proficiency in Excel and statistical tools for data analysis; experience with JMP or Minitab a plus
- Experience with JMP or Minitab preferred
