Atlas is seeking a Senior Data Visualization Engineer to design and build high-fidelity visual interfaces that enhance understanding and decision-making in complex security and AI-driven systems. This role involves creating interactive visualizations that translate complex system behaviors into clear and actionable representations, ensuring that automated decisions are transparent and understandable.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement interactive visualizations that represent complex system behavior, decision flows, and automation outcomes
- Build visual interfaces that support exploration, comparison, and drill-down across time, entities, and actions
- Translate abstract concepts such as confidence, risk, state, and progression into clear and accurate visual metaphors
- Ensure visualizations scale with increasing data volume and system complexity without loss of clarity
- Visualize how automated and AI‐driven decisions are made, including inputs, confidence levels, and downstream effects
- Design views that allow users to trace decisions back to contributing factors and contextual data
- Support trust and explainability by making system behavior observable rather than opaque
- Partner closely with machine learning and automation engineers to accurately represent decision logic and outcomes
- Collaborate with data and ontology engineers to understand entity models and relationships
- Design visualization‐friendly data structures, transformations, and aggregation strategies
- Ensure semantic correctness in how identities, assets, events, and actions are represented visually
- Handle noisy, incomplete, or evolving data without misleading users
- Design interaction patterns that support investigation, validation, and oversight without overwhelming users
- Balance precision and usability for both technical and executive audiences
- Apply strong UX and human‐centered design principles to reduce cognitive load while preserving accuracy
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, usage patterns, and evolving system behavior
- Integrate visualization components into existing platforms and workflows used by engineering and leadership teams
- Ensure performance, responsiveness, reliability, and scalability of visualization solutions
- Maintain visualization codebases with the same rigor as production software
- Contribute to internal standards and best practices for visualizing complex systems at scale
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human‐Computer Interaction, or a related technical discipline
- 8+ years of experience designing and building data visualizations for complex systems
- Strong software engineering skills with experience delivering interactive, production‐grade visualizations
- Deep understanding of data visualization principles, perception, and information design
- Experience working with large, multi‐dimensional, and evolving datasets
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineers and data scientists to ensure accuracy and correctness
- Experience visualizing system state, workflows, or automated decision processes
- Background in security, infrastructure, or large‐scale enterprise systems
- Experience designing visualizations that support explainability and trust in automated or AI‐driven systems
- Familiarity with graph, network, or relationship‐based visual representations
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical depth with executive‐level clarity
