CACI International Inc is a dynamic company seeking a Mid-Level Naval Electrical Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will provide technical support on various engineering ship design projects primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command and the Military Sealift Command.
Responsibilities:
- Primarily provide engineering support of Military Sealift Command (MSC) on various transportation alteration (TRANSALT) work and packages
- Review and analyze preliminary and functional design documentation of shipboard electrical, marine, control, and alarm and monitoring systems to evaluate their impact on commercial standards and safety practices
- Perform contractual specification write-up and review/research regulatory rules and commercial standards
- Familiar with commercial standards (e.g., ABS MVR, ABS NVR, SOLAS, ASTM, ANSI, MIL-S901, Navy GSO and EPA, IEC, IEEE 45, etc.)
- Perform engineering systems and control systems
- Perform electrical feasibility and trade-off studies for selection of generators, motors, variable frequency drives, transformers, Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS), control panels, cables, timers, circuit breakers, power panels, batteries, relays, etc
- Develop and oversee deliverables, QA, root cause failures, and risk assessment for Navy Vessels
- Collaborate with other QA/review engineering mid-level, senior, and expert staff and generate final electrical technical products (e.g. 2D AutoCAD schematic drawings, Contract Deliverables, reports, etc.)
- Self-Starter, multi-task capability, technically savvy, interpersonal skills, team player and ability to market our CACI team capabilities
- Intermediate level experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or other similar CAD software
- Site visits and shipchecks at various Navy and Commercial Shipyards, electrical analyses, 2D electrical design drawing development, and implementation of Commercial and Naval engineering requirements, including electrical power systems, electromechanical
Requirements:
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Engineering (BSE/BE), BS/AS in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or marine engineering; or similar background and/or specialized such as significant US Navy enlisted equivalency training with an associate's degree will be accepted in lieu of bachelor's degree
- 3-7 years of experience in US Naval Ship Engineering, either within the NAVSEA/PEO Governmental Organizations, Shipyard Construction and Repair, Ship Operations (as a USCG Certified Officer or US Naval Officer), NAVSEA contractor support, or similar electrical power systems experience
- Ability to become proficient in designing electrical rip-out and install drawings, including bill of materials creation in AutoCAD software as the COG design engineer
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with complex technical issues. The ability to create graphical representations and PowerPoints
- Strong analytical skills
- Capable to perform design ship checks onboard MSC and Navy ships
- This position requires a willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time. Depending on the task and project needs, there is potential for travel both domestically and Overseas Contingency Operations (OCONUS)
- MSC TRANSALT experience; ship checks, package development, quality assurance, redlines, etc
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, NAVISWORKS and SKM Power Tools
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (macros, VBA, etc)
- Familiar with Machinery Control Systems and PLC/HMI/Automation/Controls
- Shipboard and/or shipyard experience
- Other Professional Qualifications/Degrees
- Participation in professional organizations (e.g., IEEE, SNAME) by authoring professional papers, holding elected office, or serving on a national or international board
