Adaptive Biotechnologies Corp. is focused on transforming the way diseases are diagnosed and treated through innovative immune medicine solutions. They are seeking an Integration Engineer to support EMR and LIS integrations within their clinical network, ensuring reliable data exchange and enhancing clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate Across Partners: Work with external vendors, EMR partners, and hospital IT teams to negotiate technical scope, SLAs, and timelines. Partner daily with internal stakeholders and departmental leaders to align integration strategy with business imperatives
- Drive Support Processes and Technical Operations: Design and operate technical onboarding/go‑live playbooks and post‑launch support models. Define and own SLOs, error budgets, error monitoring, and incident response processes. Lead major incident resolution and root‑cause analysis; implement corrective actions that improve system-wide reliability and efficiency
- Design and Validate Interfaces: Define architecture for HL7, FHIR, and API-based interfaces across EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.). Standardize mappings, streamline validation, and maintain configurations to ensure compliance and interoperability at scale
- Ensure Data Quality: Analyze, map, and troubleshoot clinical data to maintain accuracy and integrity across systems. Engineer data quality controls and maintain test plans to ensure scalability across platforms
- Enhance and Optimize Solutions: Partner with product and engineering teams to support live integrations by owning technical integration health measurement, KPIs, and performance visualization. Drive automation for deployment, testing, and monitoring. Continuously drive workflow evolutions to improve reliability across the portfolio
- Serve as Integration SME: Provide expert guidance on EMR connectivity, interface troubleshooting, and best practices for scalable deployment. Represent the technical function on organization‑wide initiatives and communicate complex concepts to non‑technical audiences
- Standardize and Scale: Author and maintain standards, documentation, playbooks, and SOPs that enable efficient, repeatable integrations. Establish change‑management and versioning practices to ensure consistency and auditability across deployments
- Advance Integration Strategy: Co-develop the long-term connectivity roadmap through ownership of technical infrastructure decisions for integration platforms. Evaluate emerging standards with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational and interoperability goals

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree + 7 years of experience of related experience (or Master's + 5 years) in Health IT integration, EMR interoperability, or a closely related field
- Proven technical leadership of multiple cross‑functional integration initiatives
- Deep proficiency in HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU, ORM, etc.), FHIR (R4), and API-based integrations (REST, SOAP, OAuth 2.0, JSON, XML)
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems such as Epic (Aura, Care Everywhere), Cerner, Flatiron, or similar platforms
- Mirth Connect expertise
- Strong JavaScript for data validation and troubleshooting, familiarity with Unix command-line, Git, and serialization formats (JSON, CSV, XML)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, map, and validate healthcare data to ensure data quality and interoperability; demonstrated ability to implement function‑wide quality controls that improve overall efficiency and reliability
- Deep understanding of HIPAA, PHI security, and regulatory compliance in clinical data exchange environments; ability to embed these requirements in standards and operational practices
- Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools to track interface performance and resolve production issues, define KPIs, and drive incident/issue-management improvements
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences, including business leadership, and mentor client/internal teams
- Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent integrations with detailed workflows, test plans, and go-live documentation
- Detail-oriented with a focus on system stability, data integrity, and post-go-live optimization
- Experience with genetics, oncology, laboratory workflows, or clinical decision support integrations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to clear, scalable documentation
