EVONA is partnering with an early-stage startup developing the world’s first in-orbit energy utility platform using high-power optical systems. They are seeking a Lead Satellite Systems Engineer to oversee the system-level development of their space vehicle platforms from concept through integration and test.
Responsibilities:
- Own the satellite system architecture across the full development lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with external satellite manufacturers and internal optics/laser teams
- Drive requirements definition, management, and traceability at spacecraft and subsystem levels
- Oversee system integration and testing phases, ensuring alignment across mechanical, thermal, optical, and power subsystems
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system models, and interface specifications
- Support program management activities including schedule tracking, risk analysis, and technical reporting
- Act as a cross-functional lead to ensure clear communication between internal stakeholders and vendors
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, satellite mission development, or aerospace program delivery
- Strong understanding of spacecraft subsystem design, integration, and operations
- Hands-on experience managing technical relationships with satellite vendors or external manufacturers
- Proven success in leading or coordinating system-level development across engineering teams
- Familiarity with systems engineering processes and tools (e.g., DOORS, MBSE, SysML)
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to present complex engineering work to a range of audiences
- Experience with laser systems, power beaming, or optical energy transfer
- Previous work in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment
- Exposure to satellite power systems, payload integration, or thermal engineering
