Myriad Genetics is transforming how genetic test results are built, delivered, and integrated across internal and external healthcare systems. They are hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of clinical reporting and interoperability solutions, overseeing a team while driving strategic initiatives in clinical reporting. The role involves hands-on development and technical leadership to ensure high-quality integrations and workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and Mentor : Hire, manage, motivate, and mentor a small team of talented engineers. (4 direct reports by Q2 2026). Lead by example
- Own Technical Direction : Architect and implement FHIR data pipelines to support report integrations and clinical workflows. Collaborate with other technical leads on the team to set the direction for clinical reporting. Partner with biopharma leadership to build external facing report integrations and product development with other life sciences companies. Contribute to external consortiums and accelerators that champion adoption and usage of FHIR for genomics data interoperability
- Hands-On Development : Contribute directly (≈60% of time) on report integrations backend reporting pipelines for Prenatal testing ( FirstGene , Foresight, Prequel)
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally : Partner with product managers, EMR engineers, and clinical stakeholders to deliver scalable integrations
- Drive Interoperability : Champion Myriad’s FHIR migration strategy across the company and improve EMR integration patterns
- Ensure Quality : Define technical specifications, enforce best practices in CI/CD, automated testing pipelines to reduce manual testing for integrations, and ship high quality code. Development on clinical products and pipelines require validation; write and run validation plans with technical stakeholders
- Shield and Prioritize : Focus the team on high-impact work and remove distractions
Requirements:
- 3+ years leading engineering teams
- Proven ability to set technical direction, hit milestones, and jump into the code daily
- 4–6 years of professional Python experience with strong backend development focus (preferably FastAPI or django)
- Experience in system, serverless and cloud architecture (AWS, k8s)
- Experience in production data pipelines, enterprise software engineering, and complex technical landscapes
- Prior success with data exchange standards (FHIR preferred) or healthcare integrations
- Some experience working in life sciences and ideally have a genetics background of some kind
- Skilled at breaking down technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders and partnering with product managers
- Advocates for good development practices, continuous integration, rigorous testing, and demonstrates high agency and accountability
