Mainspring Energy is revolutionizing power generation with its innovative linear generator technology. They are seeking a Senior Commissioning Operations Engineer to design and implement clean power solutions for Commercial & Industrial customers, involving customer engagement and system configuration.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and test our Linear Generator units after new site installations to allow seamless integration into Mainspring’s growing LGen fleet
- Travel to customer sites and project locations to support new installations, site acceptance tests, and customer demonstrations
- Enhance current commissioning procedures to improve testing efficiency and shorten timelines
- Troubleshoot and root cause operation issues with our linear generators in collaboration with other engineering teams such as Mechanical, Electrical, and Software & Controls
- Work directly with our commissioning technicians to facilitate repairs, retrofits, and provide operational training on our generators
- Analyze data, generate reports and communicate results from commissioning to our customers, internal project managers, and with engineering teams to facilitate learnings
- Build and refine automation scripts, commissioning toolkits, and data-driven processes that streamline onboarding, testing, and fault recovery
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent
- Experience in project management
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Understanding of electrical power distribution and control systems
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, C++, MATLAB)
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently
- Demonstrates flexibility in approach and willingness to take on new challenges
- Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Enjoy working with complex systems and collaborating in interdisciplinary teams
- Willingness and ability to travel nationwide up to 50% of the time
- Master's degree in Engineering or related field and/or 6+ years of applicable experience
- Hands-on experience in industrial equipment installation/commissioning, including interpreting schematics and technical specifications
- Familiarity with microgrid controls solutions, devices, programming, technical challenges, constraints, energy management systems, and controls architecture is preferred
- Experience working directly with customers in a technical or engineering capacity
