About this role
Tapio is an established and growing renewable energy developer with an active portfolio of C&I and utility-scale solar and storage projects across the U.S. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design and engineering efforts across solar PV and battery storage projects, bridging early-stage development, permitting, and construction handoff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical design for solar and BESS systems: site layouts, one-lines, stringing plans, equipment specs
- Prepare and review plan sets (30%, IFP, IFC) and ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, UL, and AHJ standards
- Coordinate with Engineers of Record (EORs), utilities, and EPC partners
- Support electrical studies (load flow, short circuit, coordination) and select major equipment
- Contribute to internal engineering standards, QC processes, and process improvements
Requirements:
- MUST HAVE ILINOIS PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (PE) LICENSE
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- PE license required (Illinois or ability to obtain quickly)
- 4–7 years' experience in electrical design for solar PV and/or BESS projects
- Strong grasp of NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and utility interconnection standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, and other design tools
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Master's preferred
