The Points Guy is part of Red Ventures, a global portfolio of high-growth companies. They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build data products and create the foundation for machine learning and business analytics efforts, collaborating with various stakeholders to develop end-to-end solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure in Databricks and AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, etc)
- Build high impact data products - Develop scalable, well tested data models that drive lifetime value, churn, and propensity insights powering RV sites and CRM activations
- Engineer reliable data pipelines - Implement Python/Spark jobs, dbt transformations, and Orchestration with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Terraform)
- Partner with analytics and product teams to translate business needs into scalable data models and solutions
- Implement and promote best practices in data architecture, security, observability, and governance
- Collaborate with data stakeholders on privacy-safe data sharing solutions, including clean-room environments and other secure data exchange methods
Requirements:
- 5+ years designing and developing on AWS and Databricks data lake and lakehouse architectures
- Expert in SQL, Python/Scala
- Hands on with Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming in production
- Dimensional, data vault, and real time schemas; SQL performance tuning on data warehouses, including Snowflake and Databricks SQL
- dbt, GitHub Actions, Terraform; strong CI/CD experience
- Proven experience building scalable data pipelines and integrations leveraging APIs
- System design experience for batch and real time
- Prior work in consumer finance, banking or fintech
- Proven ability to translate technical concepts to non technical audiences; excellent written & verbal communication
- Experience modernizing or migrating large-scale data environments to Databricks or AWS
- Familiarity with data governance, cataloging, and access-control frameworks
- Proven success influencing technical direction and driving adoption of best practices across teams
