Avalara is an AI-first company focused on transforming the relationship between tax and technology. They are seeking a Senior Salesforce Engineer to design and implement custom solutions on the Salesforce platform, leveraging AI capabilities to enhance customer service workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Lead development of custom Salesforce Service Cloud solutions (case routing, knowledge management, omnichannel)
- Build Apex classes, triggers, batch processes, and Lightning Web Components (LWC)
- Extend and customize Einstein for Service features (e.g., case classification, next best action, article recommendations)
- Design and deploy Agentforce-powered autonomous agents to improve customer interactions and service processes
- Collaborate with architects to define scalable technical solutions
- Integrate Salesforce with external systems (ERP, telephony, chatbots, and data platforms)
- Ensure solutions follow governor limits, security best practices, and enterprise coding standards
- Write unit and integration tests (≥75% code coverage)
- Support QA and UAT cycles, troubleshoot issues, and deploy fixes
- Manage deployments by CI/CD pipelines (Copado, Gearset, or equivalent)
- Partner with admins, business analysts, and product managers to refine requirements
- Mentor junior developers, provide code reviews, and enforce best practices
- Document technical designs, configurations, and deployment processes
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and increase Service Cloud configurations
- Research and implement new Salesforce AI capabilities (Agentforce, Einstein Copilot) to enhance automation and productivity
Requirements:
- 5+ years Salesforce development experience, with a focus on Service Cloud
- Code expertise: Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, and REST/SOAP APIs
- Experience with Service Cloud features: Omni-Channel, Case Management, Knowledge, CTI/Telephony, Service Console
- Salesforce Service Cloud Developer or Platform Developer II certification
- Hands-on experience with Agentforce or Einstein preferred (AI agent design, case classification, AI insights)
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (Git, Copado, Gearset, or Jenkins) and Agile delivery
