Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Business Analyst supporting mission‑critical systems for a leading federal health research institute. In this role, you will help shape the tools that support groundbreaking research in heart, lung, and blood diseases, driving requirements and guiding solutions from concept through implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with business stakeholders to deeply understand their needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements
- Work closely with developers to ensure requirements are implemented, tested, and validated using Agile methodologies
- Coordinate with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, configuration management, security, and other technical groups to ensure full alignment and integration of solutions
- Support development of new applications and modernization of existing systems, including solutions built on the Microsoft Power Platform
- Capture requirements using a variety of techniques including user stories, use cases, API specifications, BDD-style specifications, mockups, and wireframes
- Analyze system interfaces and existing documentation to identify gaps and opportunities
- Conduct interviews with product owners, users, and stakeholders to refine requirements
- Create and execute test cases, partner in backlog management, and oversee development flow from concept to release
- Troubleshoot issues reported by business users and communicate status clearly and proactively
- Produce end‑user documentation such as user guides and quick reference materials
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst or in a related IT role, with a proven track record of delivering requirements that drive successful application development
- Demonstrated experience working directly with cross‑functional technical teams (developers, architects, QA, product owners) to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable specifications
- Hands‑on experience supporting full SDLC and Agile delivery, from requirements discovery through release and user adoption
- Proven ability to analyze existing systems, identify gaps, and propose data‑driven process improvements that enhance user workflows and system functionality
- Experience leading requirements sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops to uncover business needs and turn them into structured documentation
- History of supporting application modernization or digital transformation initiatives, preferably involving cloud, low‑code platforms, or enterprise systems
- Strong background in troubleshooting functional issues, validating expected behavior, and partnering with users to refine system enhancements
