The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer will manage teams to ensure that externally sourced products meet quality and technical requirements, while also developing supplier oversight plans and resolving complex quality issues.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement supplier surveillance and oversight plans for complex and first of a kind procurements to ensure compliance with quality and technical standards
- Lead teams in the resolution of complex supplier quality issues which adversely impact product quality
- Responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining the scheduling of audit and oversight activities and personnel to ensure timely execution of supplier quality activities and effective resource allocation in compliance with requirements
- Perform independent verification activities (i.e., assessments and oversight) to verify Westinghouse QSL suppliers have established, implemented, and sustained an effective quality management system to assure the “nuclear safety related” or “augmented safety” items, material, and/or services being provided to Westinghouse, meet the quality assurance, regulatory, and customer requirements specified within purchasing documents
- Monitor progress and direct teams to achieve established quality goals within budgetary and schedule constraints
- Create certification documents, which identify the procurement requirements met by the purchased material or equipment, such as codes, standards, and other specifications imposed by Westinghouse Customers, for major equipment and components
- Lead assessments of the global supply base to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards
- Evaluate supplier quality plans, procedures, and processes to verify compliance to quality and technical requirements defined by Westinghouse Engineering
- Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods for collection of deficiency information to identify failure causes and trends, rate performance and measure the effectiveness of supplier QA programs, and internal processes
- Write detailed segments of QA plans/programs according to current U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Westinghouse and customer QA standards for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities
Requirements:
- 5 or more years of experience is required
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, technical area or equivalent is required
- Capability to concisely explain QA procedures to internal personnel and external customers, subcontractors, suppliers and licensees relative to Westinghouse quality related products and services
- You develop solutions, plan work and set priorities while using a questioning attitude to identify risks
- Exceed customers' expectations in ways that are in consideration of our goals
- An NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor certification is desirable
