Sardine is a leader in fraud prevention and AML compliance, seeking a DevOps Engineer to evolve their infrastructure and platform tooling. The role involves building CI/CD pipelines, improving system observability, and optimizing cloud usage while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve our DevOps and platform engineering function, from build and deployment pipelines to monitoring, infrastructure as code, and cost optimization
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that are secure, scalable, and built to support rapid product iterations without sacrificing stability
- Improve observability via Datadog, GCP, and custom dashboards, including FinOps focused observability outcomes
- Implement and maintain FinOps governance, including showback and chargeback models, to drive cost accountability across engineering teams
- Enable developer productivity by creating internal tooling, reusable modules, and simplifying infrastructure for other engineering teams
- Help teams define and measure SLOs setting the standard for how we think about system health and reliability
- Serve as a FinOps thought leader, collaborating with Product and Engineering to define the most cost-effective architectural patterns for new services and features
- Play a key role in shaping our engineering culture, DevOps best practices, and influencing our long-term DevOps roadmap
- Work cross-functionally with product engineering, security, finance, and other teams to align technical spending with business unit economics and financial goals
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or software engineering roles, ideally in high-growth startup environments
- Proficiency in Python or Go, with strong software engineering fundamentals
- Proven ownership of production infrastructure and platform tooling, with strong debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and diagnose unforeseen financial spikes
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing highly secure and robust infrastructure, particularly in environments with stringent regulatory requirements such as those used by government agencies and major financial institutions
- Deep experience with Kubernetes and tools like ArgoCD, Helm, and Terraform
- Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or other major cloud providers, with a deep focus on cloud cost management, leveraging reserved instances/savings plans, and implementing cost anomaly detection
- Hands-on experience with dedicated FinOps tooling (e.g., Kubecost, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Cloud Billing, DoIT Cloud Intelligence) or building custom tooling for cost allocation and reporting
- Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines and internal developer tooling from the ground up
- Hands-on experience with observability tools like Prometheus or Datadog, and participation in an on-call rotation
- Experience with FedRAMP certification is a plus
