Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare, providing critical data solutions for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team focused on building scalable API products and enhancing data exchange, while collaborating with various product teams to improve workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Build, grow, and lead a world-class team of engineers who build the critical parts of our product through strong hiring, mentoring, and a culture of continuous improvement
- Create the technical vision for Datavant’s ROI products, grounded in both technical excellence and business strategy
- Partner strategically with product and design leadership to shape roadmap decisions, influence product direction, and ensure technical constraints are understood early and often. You will act as a peer to product leaders, not just an executor shipping value to customers
- Deliver rapid efficiencies with our product through directing how our use cases and business outcomes align with what’s technically feasible.Make data driven decisions about prioritization, measuring success through both engineering metrics as well as business impact
- Be a critical leader in the provider business
- Be the champion & driver of product innovation processes & initiatives
- Optimize and scale Agile/Scrum processes to remove bottlenecks and continuously improve how teams ship
- Be hands-on by leading high impact efforts, staying technically current, and demonstrating technical depth through occasional code reviews and architectural decisions
- Be a strong communicator, coach, and mentor
Requirements:
- Been managing highly scalable product engineering teams
- Can take on more scope as their team(s) grow
- Strategic product-minded leader with ability to influence product direction and roadmap
- Great cross functional stakeholder management skills, particularly with product leadership
- Technical depth: you maintain a clear and detailed understanding of the technical implications of your architecture, and you can make informed technical decisions. You're comfortable diving into code, doing code reviews, and staying current with the stack that your team is developing in
- Handling ambiguity and trade offs, a big part of the job is being able to identify requirements and finding the right solution to use to solve the problem. You might have to dive into other teams' codebases to collaborate with them on building a solution in their ownership area
- Data-driven decision maker: you use metrics and business outcomes to inform strategy, measure team/product success, and drive technical tradeoff decisions
- Strong process discipline: you understand and can optimize Agile/Scrum processes, and you drive continuous improvement in how the team ships
- Ability to translate technical constraints and implications into business language for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering teams through strong hiring, mentorship, and coaching
- You are passionate about building a business that transforms the healthcare industry
- You have deep technical credibility with the team: you understand modern software architectures, can evaluate technical approaches, and can discuss code and systems with your engineers as a peer
