James Hardie is the industry leader in exterior home and outdoor living solutions, and they are seeking an intern to gain hands-on experience in engineering. The internship program is designed to provide valuable insights into the industry while contributing to projects that impact the business.
Responsibilities:
- Work with team members on diverse projects and tasks
- Perform research and analysis to aid project objectives
- Create reports, presentations, and necessary documentation
- Engage in team meetings and share ideas
- Learn and implement industry best practices and company standards
- Gain exposure to manufacturing and process engineering work by supporting R&D and process development trials
- Assist with trial runs, recording data, collecting samples and organizing results
- Support the introduction of the new raw material formulation in the PVC plant
- Support the validation of new equipment needed to be able to run the new raw material formulation
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor's program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and May 2028 (rising junior or rising senior)
- Demonstrated strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must be available to work full-time for 12 weeks during the summer of 2026
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the work location
- Must be authorized to work in the US
- Target majors: chemical engineering, polymers, and material science, mechanical engineering
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, product development, or engineering fundamentals. Interested in process improvement, troubleshooting and hands on work in a production environment
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and identify trends
- Problem-Solving: Strong aptitude for diagnosing issues, proposing solutions, taking initiative
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication for reporting and collaboration
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (operators, management)
