Ciena is a global leader in high-speed connectivity, committed to a people-first approach. They are seeking a dynamic engineer to support Network Management Applications and Network Design Tools, focusing on the Navigator Network Control Suite to ensure engineering readiness for product deployment and customer engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a Single Pane of Glass to integrate subsea cables in Navigator NCS
- Conduct a thorough analysis of subsea / wet plant management requirements and drive the seamless integration of these systems with SDN controllers
- Lead the design of data-driven dashboards to provide clear and actionable visualizations of network performance metrics. Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to present complex information in an accessible and meaningful format, supporting decision-making and performance optimization efforts
- Drive discussions regarding the application of AI Ops capabilities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and technological advancements
- Engage the customers to assess their needs / requirements and collaborate with the Ciena Product Management team to define / influence roadmaps
- Support account teams with pre- and post-sales / SVS (Solution Validation Service) engagements that include technical consultation, solution design / evaluation, and other Q&A support
- Drive customer engagements which include product and solution proof of concepts, demos, lab / field trials. In the process, you will capture product issues and customer requests for enhancements that could be embedded into upcoming releases
- Lead lab engineering activities such as installing, configuring, integrating, and testing Navigator Multi-layer Controller with Advanced Applications / Planning tools to assess / characterize functionality, performance, security, etc
- Develop technical documents, test plans, knowledge transfer charts, videos that explain product architecture, features, and capabilities
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science (or related discipline)
- Solid IP and Optical networking knowledge
- Experience in multi-layer (IP over DWDM) network management
- Strong knowledge of AI technologies and concepts (GenAI, Large Language Models, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing)
- Good knowledge of Linux Operating Systems
- Good knowledge of virtualized environments (VMware ESXi, OpenStack, GCP) and container services (Docker, Ansible, etc.)
- Good knowledge of cloud-based application deployment techniques, containerization software and orchestration products (Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift)
- Database knowledge (PostgreSQL), experience with messaging services (Kafka), experience with Monitoring Technologies (Nagios, Grafana)
- Experience with REST API interfaces and tools, NETCONF/YANG, XML, and solid programming skills in Python
- Exposure to machine learning concepts and experience using ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Understanding of Security, Radius authentication, etc
- Understanding of Agile / DevOps, continuous development, integration and deployment
- Ability to build strong relationships with peers and internal / external customers
- Ability to create / present presentations and articulate complex ideas
- Successful practical problem solving, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work in a competitive environment with churning requirements
- Flexibility to work across time zones and availability for some travel
