EBSCO Information Services is a leader in providing optimized research experiences through a powerful discovery platform. They are seeking a Platform Engineer I to support and improve their enterprise cloud platforms, working alongside senior engineers to gain hands-on experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure in AWS.
Responsibilities:
- Support the operation and maintenance of Kubernetes platforms (Amazon EKS) under the guidance of senior engineers
- Assist with the implementation and upkeep of service mesh components (e.g., Istio) for secure and observable service communication
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows to help teams deploy applications safely and consistently
- Partner with development, security, and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and improve platform usability
- Write and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, learning how to diagnose and resolve platform issues
- Help document platform standards, processes, and runbooks
- Learn and apply cloud and DevOps best practices related to security, monitoring, and cost awareness
Requirements:
- 0–3 years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or a related technical role (internships, co-ops, bootcamps, or academic projects count)
- Foundational understanding of cloud concepts (compute, networking, storage)
- Basic experience or exposure to AWS or another major cloud provider
- Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes concepts (hands-on experience is a plus, but not required)
- Some experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
- Some experience with Infrastructure-as-Code or configuration management
