Carrier is a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, and they are seeking a Measurement & Verification (M&V) Energy Engineer to join their NORESCO team. The role involves developing and executing M&V plans for energy conservation projects, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the operational efficiency of building systems.
Responsibilities:
- Development of energy savings analysis tools for data from loggers, data acquisition systems (i.e. solar PV), cogeneration historians and building management systems (BMS) data using Python
- Plan and execute performance assurance and savings verification activities for assigned projects. NORESCO has a large portfolio of energy savings performance contract and utility energy service contract projects
- Collect field data, either on-site, remotely, or using other NORESCO resources and use that data to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual M&V reports as required for each project
- Assist with calculating energy savings in accordance with the M&V plan, including:
- Developing new and updating existing energy simulation models using methods which may include Excel bin model analysis, eQuest and/or EnergyPro tools
- FEMP/IPMVP Option B and Option C verification methods
- Evaluating actual and contractual utility rates
- Track changes to customer facilities that may affect the performance of installed ECMs
- Monitor and evaluate ECM performance remotely and on site; including data collection, review of metered data, utility bills, and BMS data
- Diagnose HVAC and building system performance issues using cross functional support from other NORESCO departments as well as with internally developed trend analytic charting tools
- With support from their manager create project and energy conservation measure (ECM) specific M&V approaches with Project Development teams based on customer requirements and scope of project. Ensure those approaches are translated and captured in a detailed and clearly defined M&V plan. Plan development may also include baseline measurement and data collection plans and development of subcontractor scopes of work for M&V activities
- Support M&V budget development and resource forecasting for M&V activities on assigned projects during project development, construction, and throughout the performance period
- Coordinate and review results of on-site inspections and O&M record reviews to verify performance and ongoing operation and maintenance practices for ECMs installed by NORESCO
- Participate in customer meetings to present findings from the ongoing M&V activities and reporting
- Work with other NORESCO departments and customers to resolve ECM performance and reporting issues
- Perform quality control reviews for peer written customer deliverables (i.e. M&V reports)
- With support from the M&V team, participate in and coordinate measurements of electric power and energy, temperature, humidity, liquid or gas flow rates, pressure, and other parameters at customer sites
- With support from their manager develop subcontractor scopes of work on assigned projects for M&V activities including data collection
- Other duties as assigned
- Travel up to 25%

- Experience with Python
- Familiarity with FEMP, IPMVP and M&V concepts
- PE, CMVP and/or CEM accreditation
- Experience executing M&V projects
- Experience completing measurements for electric power and energy, temperature, humidity, liquid or gas flow rates, pressure, and other parameters
