NetSuite, part of Oracle, is a leading company in AI and cloud solutions. They are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to own the protection and controls technical baseline for large-scale data centers, ensuring consistent implementation across projects and leading protection-related event response.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain protection and controls standards
- Define the protection and controls philosophy, including scheme selection, coordination principles, operating assumptions, and expected system behavior under normal and abnormal conditions
- Review protection design packages, including single line diagrams, relaying and metering diagrams, schematics, logic, and commissioning and test procedures performed by developers, EPCs, OEMs, and consultants, and drive closure on technical gaps and open items
- Develop, validate, and maintain relay settings, protection logic, and protection documentation across protection zones and operating modes
- Experience supporting post-event analysis using oscillography, SER, and disturbance records, and translating findings into durable corrective actions
- Lead protection-related troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions; assess existing facilities and recommend upgrades and replacements
- Partner with operations and design engineering teams to improve reliability outcomes, standard adoption, and consistency across the portfolio
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10–15 years of protection and controls engineering experience across substations, HV/MV Systems, and large campus electrical systems
- Demonstrated experience protecting on-site generation (rotating and inverter-based) and supporting microgrid operating modes, including grid-connected and islanded operation and transitions
- Experience developing and reviewing relay settings, protection logic, and commissioning test plans
- Familiarity with IEEE standards and utility interconnection practices; NERC exposure as applicable to site context

- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with IEC 61850, relay messaging, time synchronization, and integration through RTAC/SCADA
