Availity is seeking a motivated and talented Software Engineer Intern to join their engineering team for the Spring 2026 term. As an intern, you will work on real-world projects that directly impact their products and gain exposure to cloud technologies in an agile environment.
Responsibilities:
- Contributing to software development projects by working on assigned tickets and features
- Assist in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications within Availity’s platform
- Learning through hands-on experience with tools and environments (e.g., Airflow, Terraform)
- Demonstrating initiative in problem-solving, self-learning, and seeking clarification when needed
- Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using technologies such as Java, React, and Spring Boot
- Participating in daily agile stand-ups, code reviews, and sprint ceremonies
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product and QA, to deliver high-quality features
- Conducting unit and integration testing to ensure software reliability and performance
- Learning about healthcare data exchange standards and compliance considerations (e.g., HIPAA, EDI)
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OOP)
- Experience with one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated interest in building scalable systems and real-world software applications
- Experience with web development frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, Django)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Understanding of databases and SQL/NoSQL
- Prior internship or project experience in software development
