Specialist Engineer DevOps / Kafka Administrator - Remote / Telecommute

Cynet Systems is seeking a Specialist Engineer DevOps / Kafka Administrator to join their team. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining Kafka clusters, ensuring optimal performance and reliability, and collaborating with development teams to provide best practices and guidance.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Kafka clusters across development, testing, and production environments
• Perform upgrades and patching of Kafka and related components
• Ensure optimal performance and reliability of Kafka clusters
• Monitor Kafka cluster health and performance
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to brokers, topics, partitions, and consumers
• Implement proactive measures to prevent potential issues
• Manage Kafka security including encryption, authentication, and access control policies
• Ensure compliance with organizational and industry data security standards
• Perform capacity planning and optimize Kafka configurations for scalability and performance
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans
• Implement and test backup and restore procedures
• Collaborate with development teams to provide Kafka best practices and guidance
• Provide Kafka-related operational support as needed
• Document infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures
• Develop automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for Kafka deployments and updates
• Maintain regular client communication, provide updates, and gather feedback
• Prepare and present status reports and proof-of-concept solutions

Requirements:

• Confluent Kafka
• Google Cloud engineering experience
• Network security knowledge
• Terraform experience
• Strong customer communication skills
• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience as a Kafka Administrator or in a similar role managing Kafka clusters
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data streaming, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting
• Experience with network security principles and practices
• Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code
• Strong customer communication experience
• Relevant technical degree or equivalent professional experience
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
