GE Vernova is a company focused on providing innovative solutions in the energy sector, and they are seeking a Core Monitoring Software Reactor Engineer. This role involves providing subject matter expertise and support for Core Monitoring Software, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Core Monitoring System support to operating Nuclear Power Plants using GE Core Monitoring Systems. This may include periodic on-call support for customer generation facility activities
- Demonstrate superior product and industry knowledge to help organization to gain the competitive edge
- Provide subject matter expertise for Core Monitoring System feature planning, development, testing, and deployment
- Interact with customers/stakeholders in VOC requirements-gathering, fine tuning, and obtaining product feedback
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver features, upgrades and major projects including infrastructure upgrades and virtualization
- Possesses a deep understanding of the technology stack and impact on final product
- Routinely collaborates with UX, Architecture and engineering teams on multiple issues and decisions
- Conduct customer and stakeholder interviews and elaborates on personas
- Demonstrate expert persuasion and influencing skills that ensure alignment between customer, product manager and engineering teams
- Demonstrate strategic expert level skills in problem decomposition and ability to navigate through ambiguity
- Engages frequently (50% of the time) with the development team; facilitates discussions, provides clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation; contributes to design activities and decisions
- Partners with Development Leadership to ensure healthy development process
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field
- Minimum 5 years of Nuclear Operations, Reactor Engineering, and/or Core Monitoring Software experience
- Nuclear Operations Experience: Roles such as Reactor Engineer, System Engineer, or Reactor Operator
- Core Monitoring Software: User or support experience
- Product and Industry Knowledge: Demonstrates superior subject matter knowledge and helps organization to gain a competitive edge
- Computational Systems and Networking: Familiarity with these areas
- Implementation Options: Familiarity with versatile implementation options and understanding of customer operational considerations during upgrade activities
- Information Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge of topics such as caching, data transfer, scalability, and security
- Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
- Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
- Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
- Skilled in negotiation to align stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective to the scrum team. Balances value propositions for competing stakeholders
