The Design Manager is responsible for coordinating design execution across hyperscale data center projects, overseeing consultant performance, and ensuring deliverables meet project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Support project kickoff meetings and ongoing design coordination meetings
- Manage and track RFIs, submittals, permits, and design milestones throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to resolve design issues and changes
- Conduct site visits and perform quality control reviews of design deliverables
- Provide weekly status reports to leadership, including schedule, RFI, submittal, and change updates
- Support permitting processes, including plan submissions, cost forecasting, and AHJ coordination
- Set up and manage project documentation systems for internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitate cross-disciplinary design decisions and escalate issues when required
- Ensure consistent communication regarding schedule, cost, and quality performance
- Contribute to development and refinement of design and construction best practices
Requirements:
- Experience supporting hyperscale or large-scale data center design and construction projects
- Strong understanding of design development, permitting, and implementation processes
- Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Ability to track and report on schedule, cost, and quality metrics
- Experience working with AHJs and managing permitting workflows
- Proficiency in construction management tools and document control systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
- Experience managing design consultants directly
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure systems and mission-critical environments
