Function Health is dedicated to empowering individuals to live healthier lives through innovative technology. They are seeking a creative and passionate designer to join their team and create exceptional user-friendly experiences for their health data access product.
Responsibilities:
- Own problems end-to-end: Frame opportunities, map journeys, and ship high-quality UI that moves metrics (activation, conversion, comprehension, retention)
- Lead research: Plan and run interviews, usability and comprehension tests; synthesize insights into decisions; partner with Data on product analytics and experiments
- Design at system level: Extend and maintain a token-based design system (Figma variables) with usage guidelines across web/mobile; ensure state coverage (empty/error/loading), motion, and accessibility
- Partner deeply with Product and Engineering: Drive prioritization, write problem statements and success criteria, and ensure crisp handoffs (specs, annotations)
- Ship, measure, iterate: Define success metrics pre-ship, review instrumentation, analyze impact, and iterate quickly
- Champion privacy & accessibility: Design with HIPAA/PHI considerations and WCAG 2.2 AA compliance; advocate for ethical UX in health
Requirements:
- 6–8+ years in end-to-end product design, with at least 3 years of UI/UX design experience and 2 years of dedicated product design experience required
- Case studies that show your process, systems thinking, and measurable outcomes (what changed and by how much)
- Strong interaction design, information architecture, and visual polish across mobile and web; proficiency with Figma (components, variables, auto-layout, prototyping)
- Comfortable running studies and using product analytics/experiments to guide decisions
- Experience building/maintaining multi-brand, cross-platform design systems
- Excellent written/spoken comms; thrives in fast-paced, ambiguity-heavy environments
- Experience designing health or fintech products with sensitive data, or regulated contexts
- Familiarity with biometrics/wearables (e.g., Oura, Apple Watch) and data visualization best practices
- Basic front-end literacy (React/Swift/Kotlin concepts) to collaborate efficiently
- Motion and micro-interaction prototypes for comprehension and feedback
