Senior Applications Engineer - Power Island Civil/Structural Design

RISINGSUN TECHNOLOGIES is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to lead structural and seismic design for SMR Power Island non-reactor facilities. The role involves supporting proposals, licensing deliverables, and coordinating with various teams to ensure safety and compliance in structural design.

Responsibilities:

• Lead structural analysis/design of non-reactor structures (Turbine, Control, Cooling, Radwaste, etc.)
• Perform/review complex calculations for non-Seismic Category I structures (seismic + extreme loads)
• Coordinate with architectural engineers for mechanical systems/layout integration without compromising safety
• Design foundations (mats/piles/piers, turbine pedestals) considering Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI)
• Develop modular/adaptable standard offerings for various site conditions
• Prepare/review calculation packages & design reports supporting SAR and licensing applications
• Support proposals/early works: SOWs, estimates, schedules, risk assessments
• Interface with internal teams + external partners/customers/regulators
• Guide external partner engineering resources and ensure deliverable quality
• Support business/commercial opportunities and protect company IP
• Drive process improvement; ensure nuclear safety & compliance adherence

Requirements:

• BS in Engineering/Physics/Math or related technical discipline
• 10+ years structural design experience
• 5+ years nuclear industry OR heavy industrial new builds
• Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information (authorization if required)
• MS/PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering (or similar)
• PE or SE license
• FEA mastery (ANSYS, GT STRUDL, etc.)
• BIM/data-centric tools familiarity (Hexagon SmartPlant/S3D, Autodesk ACC)
• Modularization/constructability mindset without compromising safety
• EPC/power plant experience; strong leadership & stakeholder communication
