Senior Staff Software Engineer

Kentik is a network intelligence platform for modern infrastructure teams, providing critical insights into network operations. They are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to co-own, design, and scale a high-performance storage layer for network monitoring data, collaborating with various teams to enhance observability features.

Responsibilities:

• Help define and lead the execution of a multi-year technical roadmap for KDE Storage services and achieve industry-leading query speeds
• Collaborate with other engineering, support, and sales teams to drive platform-wide storage standards
• Solve high-visibility, challenging engineering problems related to data-intensive platform storage

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in backend development using Go/C/Rust, with a strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and high-throughput data pipelines
• A passion to grow personally and contribute to our team
• Strong collaboration skills, essential for Kentik's remote-friendly culture
• Experience with Timeseries Databases, especially the storage layer, is a big plus
• Experience with object storage or distributed filesystems
• Experience designing tiered storage strategies (Hot/Warm/Cold) and TTL-based data eviction at scale
