The Lead Software Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple engineering teams, improving project processes, and aligning engineering priorities with business objectives while promoting quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor multiple teams of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and operational excellence
- Help define and drive technical strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals while balancing scalability, performance, and resiliency
- Partner with product management and senior leadership to influence roadmap planning and strategic decision-making
- Establish project planning, tracking, and reporting frameworks and best-practices across teams
- Identify opportunities to improve scrum/agile practices
- Build relationships and improve workflows with teams such as Security, QA, Product, and stakeholders
- Establish and refine engineering best practices, ensuring teams deliver high-quality and sustainable product
- Contribute to process improvements cross release management, quality automation, and developer workflows
- Guide engineering managers, principal and senior engineers in leadership, execution, and cross-team collaboration
- Improve application lifecycle maintenance processes and contribute to a culture of proactiveness
Requirements:
- 8-12 years of experience in software engineering, with 3-5 years in a technical leadership role that includes previous people management
- Proven experience in leading multiple engineering teams and scaling software development organizations
- Strong background in distributed systems, cloud computing (AWS or similar), and modern API development
- Up-to-date with current technologies to inform decision-making and technology adoption with focus on modern programming languages such as Node.js, React, Typescript, GoLang, Python 3, or others
- Expertise in optimizing engineering workflows, managing cross-team dependencies, and driving large-scale technical initiatives
- Ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic decision-making
- Experience collaborating with senior stakeholders across product, engineering, and business teams
- Track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent in a fast-paced environment
- Proven record of shipping high-quality products that are maintainable, resilient, and performant
