GAI Consultants, Inc. is looking for an Engineering Manager to support their Power and Industry Business Sector. The role involves managing electrical engineering projects and leading a team while ensuring project delivery meets scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage the performance of electrical analysis/design and preparation of drawings and specifications per engineering standards and applicable codes
- Provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to the electrical group
- Project management responsibilities including delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety and profitability of all projects managed
- Plans and manages small to medium value projects and multiple projects at one time
- Works closely with Project Accounting to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, to analyze project performance data and to develop recovery plans as needed
- Generate new work for the business sector through client outreach
- Proposal preparation including scope and budget development and interdisciplinary coordination
- Draft site reports, design narratives, meeting minutes, and project memorandums
- Collaborate with other engineering leads for resource and schedule management, the performance of QA/QC peer reviews, and staff mentorship
- Independently conduct field condition assessments
- Performance of bid and construction phase services including responding to bidder questions, responding to Contractor Requests for Information, and submittal reviews, site visits, and verifying change order documentation
- Perform projects that are managed by other engineering leads
- Have the ability to lift 50 lbs., able to climb ladders, work at heights over 25 ft
- Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment including fall protection
- Physically capable of performing field visits to client sites to obtain photos, physical measurements, and view site conditions
- Ability to work independently and direct/oversee engineering and drafting staff on a project basis
- Possess strong communication skills that will allow for a collaborative environment with other engineering disciplines
Requirements:
- 14+ years of experience
- B.S. or M.S. Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Able to climb ladders, work at heights over 25 ft
- Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment including fall protection
- Physically capable of performing field visits to client sites to obtain photos, physical measurements, and view site conditions
