Electrical Engineering Manager 2

GAI Consultants, Inc. is looking for an Engineering Manager to support their Power and Industry Business Sector. The role involves managing electrical engineering projects and leading a team while ensuring project delivery meets scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and manage the performance of electrical analysis/design and preparation of drawings and specifications per engineering standards and applicable codes
• Provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to the electrical group
• Project management responsibilities including delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety and profitability of all projects managed
• Plans and manages small to medium value projects and multiple projects at one time
• Works closely with Project Accounting to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, to analyze project performance data and to develop recovery plans as needed
• Generate new work for the business sector through client outreach
• Proposal preparation including scope and budget development and interdisciplinary coordination
• Draft site reports, design narratives, meeting minutes, and project memorandums
• Collaborate with other engineering leads for resource and schedule management, the performance of QA/QC peer reviews, and staff mentorship
• Independently conduct field condition assessments
• Performance of bid and construction phase services including responding to bidder questions, responding to Contractor Requests for Information, and submittal reviews, site visits, and verifying change order documentation
• Perform projects that are managed by other engineering leads
• Have the ability to lift 50 lbs., able to climb ladders, work at heights over 25 ft
• Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment including fall protection
• Physically capable of performing field visits to client sites to obtain photos, physical measurements, and view site conditions
• Ability to work independently and direct/oversee engineering and drafting staff on a project basis
• Possess strong communication skills that will allow for a collaborative environment with other engineering disciplines

Requirements:

• 14+ years of experience
• B.S. or M.S. Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Able to climb ladders, work at heights over 25 ft
• Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment including fall protection
• Physically capable of performing field visits to client sites to obtain photos, physical measurements, and view site conditions
• Ability to work independently and direct/oversee engineering and drafting staff on a project basis
