Confidential is seeking a VP of Software Engineering to lead and scale the software development organization, driving the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative products. This role will oversee engineering teams, define technical strategy, and ensure alignment with business goals while collaborating closely with Product, Design, Data, and Executive Leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the software engineering organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology roadmap
- Manage multiple engineering teams, including frontend, backend, mobile, DevOps, QA, and platform teams, fostering collaboration and high performance
- Drive architecture, design, and development of scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring best practices in agile development, CI/CD, and release management
- Establish engineering KPIs, quality metrics, and operational standards to measure team performance and delivery efficiency
- Collaborate with Product Management, UX/UI, and Data teams to define product requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure timely delivery
- Champion technical excellence, code quality, testing, and continuous improvement across teams
- Mentor and develop engineering leaders and managers, building a strong leadership pipeline
- Drive innovation through evaluation and adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and tools
- Partner with Security, Compliance, and IT teams to ensure systems meet regulatory and security requirements
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven experience leading large engineering teams and complex software initiatives
- Strong technical expertise across multiple technology stacks, architectures, and platforms
- Experience in software development lifecycle management, agile methodologies, and DevOps practices
- Demonstrated ability to scale engineering organizations in fast-growing or high-growth environments
- Excellent leadership, mentorship, and team development skills
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience in SaaS, cloud-native, or B2B software products
- Familiarity with AI/ML, data platforms, or advanced technology integrations
- Background in enterprise software delivery, multi-cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems
- Experience managing globally distributed or remote engineering teams
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and security standards (SOC2, ISO, GDPR)
