Gartner is a leading research and advisory company that guides leaders who shape the world. They are seeking a Senior Director Analyst to lead research and provide insights on software engineering trends and innovations, serving as a trusted advisor to technology executives.
Responsibilities:
- Research, analyze and predict software engineering trends and innovations
- Monitor and evaluate the competitive landscape across software engineering tool vendors, solutions, and service providers
- Create compelling, high-quality research reports, white papers, and thought leadership content that provides clients with actionable insights
- Develop frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to help organizations successfully implement solutions
- Through virtual and face-to-face interactions, advise senior executives on their strategic decisions
- Create and deliver high value presentations at Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings
- Build external credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research and insights
- Provide sales support to help drive engagement with prospects and clients
- Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers within the Gartner research community
- Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward
- Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analysts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
- 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience
- Experience leading a software engineering organization, with an understanding of key challenges and opportunities
- Deep knowledge of software architecture principles and challenges for SaaS platforms
- Up-to-date knowledge of AI development tools
- Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables
- Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability
- Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
- Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges
- Strong communicator who is able to explain complex concepts concisely and simply
- Subject matter expert comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Deep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within subject area as well as the interplay in that market
- Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
- Learning agile and adept with navigating highly matrixed environments
- Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (where applicable)
- Significant experience in the role of Vice President of Engineering or equivalent at software vendor organization(s)
- Deep expertise in AI technologies
- Prior experience at a research and advisory firm, consulting organization, or similar role
