Principal Application Development Engineer

Centene Corporation is a diversified national organization seeking a Principal Application Development Engineer to improve health outcomes through technology. The role involves designing and implementing complex enterprise software solutions while collaborating with various teams to ensure successful project delivery and application support.

Responsibilities:

• Leads project teams focused on the development of application products and services delivery and provides technical mentorship
• Leads teams in the technical design of application solutions using expert knowledge of how multiple products and services work together to meet business needs and add value for the customer
• Articulates application-usage best practices based on expert knowledge and understanding of multiple technology solutions
• Impacts and drives decisions with Enterprise Architecture on the delivery of data and application architecture
• Mentors and impacts relevant operational and build teams to construct testing and implementation strategies
• Informs on product and services delivery progress in relation to application delivery
• Drives tier 3 application support activities including the assessment and execution of application upgrades and patches
• Participates in mitigation and control activities as well as identifying and evaluating risks
• Manages people and technology changes; ensuring necessary stakeholders are informed
• Facilitates people management and resourcing; defining roles and responsibilities, staff reviews/appraisals, recruitment/dismissals and staff training
• Serves as an expert technical adviser to management and provides software engineering perspective on system requirements
• Creates conceptual and detailed technical design documents
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science)
• Deep functional and Centene specific knowledge with 6 – 8 years of related experience
• Expert knowledge of how multiple products and services work together to meet business needs
• Ability to articulate application-usage best practices based on expert knowledge and understanding of multiple technology solutions
• Experience in driving decisions with Enterprise Architecture on the delivery of data and application architecture
• Experience in mentoring and impacting relevant operational and build teams to construct testing and implementation strategies
• Experience in driving tier 3 application support activities including the assessment and execution of application upgrades and patches
• Experience in participating in mitigation and control activities as well as identifying and evaluating risks
• Experience in managing people and technology changes; ensuring necessary stakeholders are informed
• Experience in facilitating people management and resourcing; defining roles and responsibilities, staff reviews/appraisals, recruitment/dismissals and staff training
• Experience in serving as an expert technical adviser to management and providing software engineering perspective on system requirements
