Databricks is a leading data and AI company that enables teams to build data-native applications through Lakebase and Databricks Apps. The Senior Technical Marketing Engineer will focus on helping developers and data teams design, build, and operate applications, translating platform capabilities into practical guidance and creating demo applications.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain end-to-end demo applications using Lakebase and Databricks Apps, covering transactional workflows, application state, analytics, and AI integration
- Design and document reference architectures and application patterns that combine database semantics, analytics, and AI on the same data
- Tell a clear and compelling technical story through the applications you build, showing the developer experience, tradeoffs, and benefits of building data-native apps using Lakebase
- Develop technical content such as blogs, videos, walkthroughs, and sample applications that explain both the architecture and the developer workflow
- Partner with product and engineering teams to test new capabilities, validate application patterns, and provide feedback grounded in real usage
- Work with field engineering and product marketing to support launches, enablement, and customer-facing technical narratives
- Communicate technical concepts clearly in customer meetings, analyst briefings, webinars, and conferences
- Act as a subject matter expert for application development use cases involving Lakebase and Databricks Apps
Requirements:
- 5+ years in technical marketing, software engineering, solutions architecture, or developer-focused product roles
- Strong hands-on experience with Postgres and transactional application patterns, schema design, indexing, migrations, and query tuning
- Experience building and shipping applications with APIs and data access layers
- Strong SQL skills, Python experience preferred
- Familiarity with modern app stacks and deployment concepts
- Strong writing and presentation skills for technical audiences
- Comfortable being customer-facing and self-directed across multiple workstreams
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related engineering practice
- Experience building internal or customer-facing data applications
- Familiarity with analytics, BI, or AI workloads integrated into applications
- Experience with governance, identity, and access control in application environments
- Prior field-facing or customer-enablement experience
- Databricks or cloud platform certifications
