Evolent partners with health plans and providers to achieve better outcomes for people with complex health conditions. The Software Engineer - Backend will develop the Auth Intel AI product and be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high reliability, scalability, and security in their solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop the Auth Intel AI product. This implies, among others, writing software primarily in Scala to solve a wide variety of problems all across the stack: from real-time data ingestion, to distributed computing algorithms for data crunching, to implementing various machine-learning algorithms for automated model development, to developing APIs for providing higher-level data and modeling abstractions that enable users to solve a wide variety of modeling and analysis problems easily
- Be responsible for full software development lifecycle - design, development, testing, operating in production
- Architect solutions to achieve a high level of reliability, scalability and security
- Communicate effectively with other engineers in the same team, with other teams and with various other stakeholders such as product managers
- Operate in an Agile development environment
Requirements:
- 5+ years of production software development experience in one of: C++, Java, and Scala, or a modern variant thereof
- 3+ years of working with Docker, WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), or other container software that runs locally
- Experience with architecting and building scalable distributed systems
- Experience with developing cloud-native services and applications, either on the public cloud (AWS/Google/Azure) or an equivalent private cloud
- Good knowledge of Linux OS and experience with Ubuntu
- Experience with designing and implementing well-thought-out APIs in a service-oriented architecture
- Good knowledge of SQL
- Good understanding of software security practices
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment frameworks
- Ability to solve novel problems in creative ways
- Previous healthcare experience with a focus in claims and prior authorization data
