Maven Clinic is the world's largest virtual clinic for women and families, dedicated to making healthcare accessible for all. They are seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead the design of their member experience, focusing on visual quality and user-centric design across various health contexts.
Responsibilities:
- Own and elevate the visual quality of the member experience: typography, color, spacing, composition, iconography, and imagery
- Collaborate closely with Brand Design to ensure the product feels like a natural extension of Maven’s brand, not a separate universe
- Contribute to and extend our design system—components, tokens, patterns, and documentation—so that it supports cohesive, high-quality execution across teams
- Design reusable visual patterns and modules (e.g., cards, layouts, content blocks, banners) that can flex across tracks (fertility, maternity, postpartum, menopause) while feeling unified
- Partner with engineers to polish the last 10%: motion, transitions, empty states, error states, and loading experiences
- Advocate for clarity, calm, and trust in every surface—especially in high-stakes health contexts
- Incorporate accessibility and inclusivity from the start (contrast, hierarchy, legibility, motion, localization-aware layouts)
- Use prototypes (Figma, FigJam, FigMake, etc.) to communicate interaction and motion, not just static screens
- Lead end-to-end design from discovery through ship and iteration for key Member Experience projects (e.g., home, onboarding, notifications, content and care modules)
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Clinical, and Data to define experience goals, success metrics, and hypotheses, and to design experiments that move those metrics
- Act as a strong thought partner to PM and Engineering leads; bring options, tradeoffs, and clear recommendations to the table
- Facilitate crits, workshops, and working sessions that move cross-functional teams toward decisions (rather than just sharing work)
- Provide feedback and informal mentorship to other designers, modeling high standards for visual craft, systems-thinking, and ownership
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement: design audits, retros, and small, high-impact refinements to the existing experience
Requirements:
- 5-8+ years of experience in product design, including experience working on consumer products
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end product work and exceptional visual design; not just UX flows
- Experience working with or contributing to a design system and collaborating closely with Brand / Visual Design
- Experience designing for mobile applications and responsive web experiences
- Visual design excellence: strong command of typography, color, layout, and composition; you know how to create interfaces that feel both beautiful and functional
- Interaction design: you design clear flows and interaction patterns, including edge cases and micro-interactions, that feel intuitive and consistent
- Systems thinking: you design components and patterns that can be reused and extended; you understand when to prioritize systematic solutions versus bespoke moments
- Communication & storytelling: you can clearly articulate design decisions, rationale, and tradeoffs to designers, PMs, engineers, and executives
- Execution at pace: you can move quickly when needed without losing taste, using prototyping and visual exploration to get to the right answer faster
- Member-obsessed, with empathy for people navigating fertility, pregnancy, parenting, and menopause
- Proud of your craft and motivated by raising the bar on quality and consistency
- Self starter, always seeing gaps and opportunities while rallying teams in driving quality forward
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities can shift and experimentation is encouraged
- Curious about modern tools and workflows (including AI tools) that help you explore options and get to a higher-quality outcome faster—without outsourcing your judgment
- Experience designing in healthcare, health tech, or other regulated domains
- Experience designing or specifying motion and micro-interactions (bonus if you've used tools like After Effects, Rive, or similar)
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and localization constraints
