Symbotic is an automation technology leader reimagining the supply chain with its AI-powered robotic and software platform. They are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to work with external manufacturing partners and design teams, focusing on reducing manufacturing defects and increasing reliability through innovative solutions in mechanical and electrical systems design.
Responsibilities:
- Define and implement advanced manufacturing strategies for robotics and automation systems that improve scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability (DFM) and lead the seamless transfer of new products into production
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis and manufacturing readiness reviews for all new product introductions
- Oversee management of tooling and capital investments to support growth
- Perform analysis, including FEA and tolerance analysis, to optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, controls, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and product success
- Identify and troubleshoot design challenges, implement effective solutions, and drive continuous improvement
- Clearly communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Contribute to a collaborative team environment and a culture of learning
- Up to 25% of travel may be required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience
- Strong foundation in mechanical/electrical design principles and hands-on experience
- Demonstrated ability to select and integrate components such as motors, sensors, and actuators
- Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, electrical, casting, sheet metal, plastics)
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Passion for robotics, automation, and innovation
- Experience in industrial robotics, automation, or material handling
- Knowledge of PLM systems
- Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA)
