BeamSphere is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for their Engineering Research & Development department for the summer. The role involves modifying or creating low-complexity parts, collaborating with a cross-functional team, and participating in various engineering tasks such as stress/strain calculations and prototype development.
Responsibilities:
- Modify or create low-complexity parts, applying principles of strengths of materials, statics, dynamics, and material science
- Create component and assembly drawings using Creo
- Attend meetings, including project status, product demos, and design reviews
- Work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team
- Perform basic stress/strain calculations on components and apply basic FEA analysis
- Create prototype parts and assemblies to provide proof of concept
- Participate in basic failure analysis and problem-solving tactics
- Participate in peer reviews for product design
- Assist other team members with projects as needed
- Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Industrial Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial and Systems Engineering
- Basic understanding of plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and machine design elements
- Working knowledge of any 3D CAD software, Creo preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Office products
- Strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills
- Working knowledge of Creo
