The Senior Project Engineer will lead complex capital projects within the Building Adhesive Solutions global manufacturing network, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery while supporting operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute complex capital projects using the corporate CAPEX Stage Gate process from initiation through commissioning
- Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets to ensure on‑time, within‑budget delivery
- Prepare capital expenditure requests, cost estimates, project proposals, and business justifications
- Develop engineering specifications, bid packages, and contractor scopes in alignment with corporate standards
- Evaluate manufacturing operations for automation, productivity improvement, and cost‑reduction opportunities
- Oversee procurement, construction, installation, and start‑up of new manufacturing systems (“cradle‑to‑grave” ownership)
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams and plant resources to minimize downtime during project execution
- Screen, hire, and manage contractors; direct internal support personnel and vendors to complete project objectives
- Review and approve engineering drawings, equipment selections, and vendor proposals
- Ensure all projects comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements, including proper operator training and startup readiness
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with a proven record of project execution
- Experience leading multiple capital projects valued at $250K or greater
- Demonstrated project leadership or program management experience
- Knowledge of plant safety requirements including machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and confined space entry
- Strong financial acumen, including understanding of IRR and NPV calculations
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Project
- Experience in chemical manufacturing environments with liquid and/or powder processes
- PMP certification or equivalent capital project management experience
- Experience in batch process manufacturing operations
- Demonstrated process improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma, RCCA, Theory of Constraints)
- Experience supporting PHAs, JHAs, MOCs, FMEAs, PSM, or functional safety design
