RISINGSUN TECHNOLOGIES is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specializing in nuclear site development. The role involves leading subsurface exploration programs, overseeing seismic foundation designs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards for geotechnical engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Lead subsurface exploration programs (geophysics, deep borings, cross-hole seismic testing)
- Oversee Seismic Category I foundations, deep soil mixing, rock anchoring under below-grade structures
- Ensure geotechnical lab testing + field inspections comply with NQA-1
- Provide input/defense of Geotechnical & Seismology sections for NRC/international license applications
- Support PSHA and determination of SSE parameters
- Develop/review 3D hydrogeological models (groundwater chemistry/flow impacts on foundations)
- Review heavy-haul paths for large modules/components
- Proactively mitigate geotechnical risks impacting schedule (faults/voids, heave, backfill issues, etc.)
- Support proposals/early works; interface with partners/customers/regulators; ensure quality deliverables
Requirements:
- BS in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related
- 10+ years geotechnical engineering experience
- 5+ years nuclear OR equivalent large-scale power generation new builds
- May require access to U.S. export-controlled information (authorization if required)
- MS/PhD in Geotechnical/Engineering Geology
- PE and/or GE/CEG (as applicable)
- SSI modeling expertise; seismic slope stability; settlement analysis for heavy modular loads
- Knowledge of NRC RG 1.132, RG 1.138, ASCE 7, IBC, ASTM D1557, ISO 9001
- Split quality site experience; large excavation management
